The Pack Group Human Rights Policy

1.Purpose

The Pack Group Human Rights Policy clarifies the basic approach and stance of the Pack Group for fulfilling its human rights responsibilities in the conduct of its business activities and serves as the basis for the decisions and actions of individual board members and employees. The Pack Group positions this policy as the fundamental guideline for promoting respect for human rights throughout its business activities, including the supply chain.

2.Basic Philosophy

Under its corporate motto—Passionate and Dedicated to Our Partnerships—the Pack Group, as a company that values people and fosters their growth, aims to realize its purpose of existence—Mission to bolster social prosperity and create satisfaction through packaging—by ensuring a safe and respectful working environment and by conducting responsible business activities with consideration for human rights. In addition, we recognize human resources as important management capital for creating corporate value. We strive to achieve sustainable growth by fostering an environment in which the diversity and potential of each individual are respected and where all employees can demonstrate their abilities with confidence.

3.Definitions

The definitions of terms used in this policy are as follows:

(1)“The Pack Group” refers to THE PACK CORPORATION and consolidated subsidiary companies.
(2) “Board members and employees” refers to the directors, corporate auditors, corporate officers, advisors, consultants, and employees (including full-time employees, continuing employees, contract employees, temporary employees, part-time employees, and casual employees) of all companies within The Pack Group.

4.Scope

This policy applies to all board members and employees of The Pack Group. The Pack Group also expects its business partners to understand the intent of this policy and to act based on respect for human rights.

5.Support and Respect for International Norms

The Pack Group supports and respects internationally recognized norms on human rights, including the International Bill of Human Rights (Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Covenants), the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and promotes initiatives to respect human rights in accordance with these norms.
The Pack Group complies with laws and regulations that apply in the countries and regions in which it operates. Where local laws and regulations depart from international human rights standards, we shall seek ways to respect internationally recognized principles of human rights to the greatest extent possible.

6.Conduct Principles

The Pack Group has established and implements the following Conduct Principles related to human rights in order to respect the human rights of all stakeholders involved in its business activities and throughout its entire value chain.

(1)Prohibition of child labor:
We shall not permit the employment of persons of less than the statutory minimum employment age under any circumstances, and shall prohibit any labor that impedes the sound development of children.

(2)Prohibition of forced labor:
We shall prohibit all forms of unjust labor conducted against people’s free will, and shall not permit any form of forced labor related to debt bondage or human trafficking.

(3)Prohibition of discrimination and harassment:
We shall eliminate all types of discrimination based on nationality, race, religion, gender, age, disability status, sexual orientation, or other characteristics, and shall prohibit any form of physical, psychological, or sexual harassment or abuse.

(4)Respect for the right to collective bargaining and freedom of association:
We shall respect workers’ freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining.

(5)Reduction of excessive working hours:
We shall properly manage employee working hours and days off in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and shall strive to reduce excessive working hours.

(6)Ensuring appropriate wage levels:
In addition to compliance with statutory minimum wages, we shall strive to pay in excess of the minimum wages to ensure a living wage sufficient to cover employees’ cost of living.

(7)Ensuring health and safety:
We shall comply with laws and regulations concerning occupational health and safety, implement measures and secure educational opportunities to prevent workplace accidents and disasters, and provide safe, sanitary working environments.

(8)Support for skills development and career building:
We shall strive to provide fair education and skills development opportunities and to create comfortable working environments so that each board member and employee can fully demonstrate their individual skills.

(9)Promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion:
We shall aim to foster a workplace environment and organizational culture in which all individuals with diverse values and personalities are respected and can thrive on an equal footing.

7.Stakeholder Engagement

The Pack Group emphasizes dialogue with relevant stakeholders and strives to ascertain and respond appropriately to any human rights issues associated with its business activities.

8.Remediation

Should it become clear that any of The Pack Group’s business activities have caused or contributed to impingement of human rights, we shall sincerely engage in remediation through appropriate procedures.

9.Education and Training

The Pack Group provides education and training as needed to enable all board members and employees to understand this policy and to faithfully practice respect for human rights in their everyday business activities.

10.Promotion Structure

In order to ensure the efficacy of this policy, we shall develop a framework centered on the Sustainable Committee, under the oversight of the Board of Directors, and promote respect for human rights across the entire Company through each department.

11.Whistleblowing System and Disciplinary Action

(1)Whistleblowing channels and protection of whistleblowers
For early detection and rectification of any actual or potential violations of this policy, The Pack Group has established its C Line internal and external (attorney-based) whistleblowing and consultation channels. These channels are intended to detect and rectify any improprieties or problems at an early stage. Furthermore, we handle all consultations in the strictest confidence and take every precaution to protect the privacy of whistleblowers so that they do not suffer any disadvantageous treatment from the Company.

(2)Disciplinary action
Board members and employees found to be in violation of this policy or related laws and regulations are subject to strict disciplinary action, including disciplinary dismissal. Furthermore, if any violation causes damage to the Company, the Company may take legal action and demand compensation for damages.

12.Publication

This policy shall be made public both internally and externally.
